सुख और दुख थोड़े समय के लिए आते हैं और फिर चले जाते हैं, जैसे सर्दी और गर्मी की ऋतुएँ आती-जाती रहती हैं। ये हमारी इंद्रियों के अनुभव से पैदा होते हैं। इसलिए इंसान को चाहिए कि वो बिना डरे या घबराए, धैर्य से इन्हें सहना सीखे।

जो व्यक्ति सुख और दुख दोनों में समान रहता है, यानी किसी में भी विचलित नहीं होता, वही सच्चे अर्थों में मुक्ति (मोक्ष) के लायक होता है।
