“ॐ पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदम्…” उपनिषद का एक अत्यंत गूढ़ शान्ति मंत्र है, जो ब्रह्म और सृष्टि के संबंध को स्पष्ट करता है। इसमें कहा गया है कि ब्रह्म (परमात्मा) पूर्ण है और यह जगत भी पूर्ण है। जगत उसी पूर्ण ब्रह्म से उत्पन्न हुआ है, फिर भी ब्रह्म में कोई कमी नहीं आती। जैसे अनन्त में से अनन्त घटा देने पर भी अनन्त ही शेष रहता है, वैसे ही ब्रह्म से अनन्त सृष्टि प्रकट होकर भी ब्रह्म सदैव अनन्त और अखंड रहता है। इस मंत्र का संदेश यह है कि प्रत्येक प्राणी, प्रत्येक कण, प्रत्येक वस्तु अपने आप में पूर्ण है, क्योंकि उसमें वही ब्रह्म व्याप्त है। हमें अपने जीवन को अधूरा मानकर लोभ और चिंता में पड़ने की आवश्यकता नहीं है — वास्तव में हम सब स्वभावतः पूर्ण और अनन्त हैं। जब यह अनुभव होता है, तब मनुष्य संतोष, शांति और ईश्वर-दृष्टि के साथ जीवन जीता है।

“Om Purnamadah Purnam Idam…” is a profound Shanti Mantra from the Upanishads that explains the relationship between Brahman and creation. It declares that Brahman (the Supreme Reality) is complete, and this universe too is complete. The universe has emerged from that infinite Brahman, yet no diminution occurs in Brahman. Just as when infinity is taken away from infinity, what remains is still infinity, in the same way, even after the infinite creation arises from Brahman, Brahman remains eternally infinite and indivisible. The message of this mantra is that every being, every particle, and every object is inherently complete, for Brahman pervades all. We need not consider our lives incomplete or fall into greed and anxiety—in truth, we are all inherently whole and infinite. When this realization dawns, a person lives with contentment, peace, and the vision of God everywhere.
