A new scientific study has raised red flags over the presence of uranium in the breastmilk of lactating mothers across six districts of Bihar, indicating potential health risks for infants who rely exclusively on breastmilk during their early months of life. The research, published in Scientific Reports, is the first assessment of uranium contamination in breastmilk in the Gangetic plains of Bihar — a region already known for toxic exposure to heavy metals like arsenic, lead, and mercury. The researchers analysed breastmilk samples from 40 lactating mothers between 17 and 35 years of age, selected from Bhojpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Katihar, and Nalanda. Every participant provided informed consent, and detailed interviews were conducted to understand breastfeeding practices, child growth, and residential history. The study was conducted by teams from Mahavir Cancer Sansthan & Research Centre (Patna), Lovely Professional University, NIPER-Hajipur, and other collaborating institutions. By dusk, another powerful yagya took place, concluding with the pooja of 64 yoginis, marking the completion of this divine event. Last month, 'International Kaulantak Siddha Vidya Peeth' (IKSVP) organized its first camp under its own banner, the “Ugra Narsimha 2 Days Basic Course” on 26-27th January at Satara, Maharastra. Ugra Narsimha is one of the forms of Narsimha which is ferocious and full of wrath. Narsimha is also considered to be one of the avataras of lord Vishnu to kill the daitya Hiranyakashyapu. The course is all about the middle path approach to defeat all the evils inherent in our lives. It is also about pursuing the middle path to practice 'Siddha Dharma'. The first day is where 'His Holiness Mahasiddha Ishaputra' explains the theoretical part of the deity worship while the second day was all about the karmakand.
